How to close the pack ; The stones should be sitting on the tray in their indentations, and not sticking up. Put the shaped-to-fit cover on top, hold the tray and top cover together and slide on the flat lock-plate to seal the pack from underneath. Bend the small tab to lock. This is the recommended way to close the pack. To insert a data card in the recess underneath, close the pack half-way first then insert the card and finish closing the pack.
Sizes of stones for each model ... For Brilliant-cut rounds it is easiest to predict which sizes will fit. Well -cut Princess-cuts can be determined as well ; while Squares will be the same size or smaller.
Well-shaped Portuguese-cut or Step-cut rounds can be estimated too.
However, for Step-cut Rounds or Squares which have excess weight on the bottom or high crowns, each model will take only smaller sizes than for well-cut stones. The size of package to use will have to be decided by experiment.
" SLIMPACK " – Description and Instructions for Use.
The rigid inner tray is for arranging, counting, weighing and displaying the stones, and the outer 2-part flexible package holds the stones in place for storage or transport. One part of the "slide-pack" is a fitted top cover and the second part is a flatter sliding lock-plate.

Model 150 2.8 , 3.0, 3.5 mm 2.5, 3.0 mm 3.0, 3.5 (4.0)* mm 3 rows = 25 pcs
Model 100 3.5, 4.5 mm 3.0, 3.5 (4.0)* mm 4.0 (4.5)* mm 2 rows = 25 pcs
* Sizes in brackets are the largest ones possible ; the top of the stone sticks out slightly above the tray.
Inserting stones ; use fine-tipped tweezers and keep a plastic toothpick handy.
Removing stones individually ; insert a flat-tipped plastic toothpick with one hand to loosen the stone and raise it slightly, so that the other hand may grip the stone with fine-tipped tweezers. .... Or use vacuum tweezers. One model of vacuum tweezers uses a small aquarium air-pump connected to a hollow blunt hypodermic needle. Blocking or opening a side hole picks up or releases stones.
Removing stones as a group ; put a small pad on top of the tray, invert both tray and pad while holding them together, then lift off the pad. The stones will now be arranged table-down. Careful !
Counting stones : Each model takes the corresponding number of stones. If the tray is only partially filled, the stones are still easy to count as the holes are grouped logically.
Model 200 has 10 stones per row, 2 groupings of 10 rows, so 200 stones.
Model 300 has 12 or 13 stones per row, so each 2 rows add up to 25. And 8 rows add up to 100, there are 3 groups of 8 rows, so 300 stones.
Model 150 has rows of 8 or 9 stones. Starting at one end, every group of 3 adjacent rows adds up to 25 stones. There are 6 groups of 3 rows, so 150 stones.
Model 100 has 2 rows adding up to 25, so 8 rows is 100 stones. There are 50 stones to each side of the central parting.
Use of data-card. There is a recess at the back of the clear plastic tray into which a data card or a standard 90 x 55mm business-card may be fitted. Weigh the empty tray on a precision gem-scale and note the weight on the card. After all the stones have been inserted and counted, weigh the tray again with the stones. Note the weight again and do the subtraction to obtain the nett weight of stones.
Make any other notes and fit the card to the recess before enclosing and sealing the tray and stones in the package. Or better still, put on the top cover and partially close the lower lock-plate. Now that the stones are secure, slide in the data card and finish sliding the lock-plate closed.
Display : The backing of the card insert may be white or black, metallic silver or gold to show the stones to their best advantage. Stacking packages in a box ; This is the best way to store the packages, so that there is some pressure holding the packages together and keeping them in shape.
The boxes provided hold 25 trays (only) or 20 complete units of Slimpack.
